Rometron, the global market leader in precision spraying, is perhaps the Achterhoek’s best-kept secret. With a good dose of down-to-earthness, a well-thought-out vision and enormous perseverance, Rometron has grown over the past 25 years into a major international player. Rometron’s product WEED-IT© is sold and used in Australia, North and South America and South Africa!
The WEED-IT system works by means of so-called ‘spot spraying’, through which a very dosed limited amount of herbicide is applied to detected weeds, on large arable areas. The benefits of Weed-IT are many. Farmers and contractors deploy it to eliminate weed seed banks and also to maximise crop moisture availability. However, the main reason for WEED-IT’s success lies in the savings in herbicide costs, which can be as high as 95%. Currently, more than 10 million hectares are already treated annually and more than 30 million litres of herbicide are saved. This is equivalent to 1,000 large 30,000-litre tankers!
Rometron’s growth is also literally ‘through the roof’! We have just celebrated our 25th anniversary during the festivities we also opened our new extension to the site. Uniquely, all products are designed (hardware and software), developed, assembled and checked on site. An innovative product is made between the fields of Steenderen, for use on fields worldwide!
Within Rometron, everyone is allowed to be themselves. And everyone is proud that we can contribute to (indirectly) reducing the use of herbicides, within arable farming. We are no-nonsense, open and modest. Most of the people working for us are from the local area.
We are currently close to 50 people, more than half of whom have joined us in the past 3 years. About 30% of the team is engaged in RD and product development. We have experienced tremendous growth. In our 25th year of existence, we now have a great team of people. Proud, dedicated and ready for Rometron’s future!
